I needed something new to teach at the OrigamiUSA Convention this year, so this is what I came up with! I was inspired by the work of Matt Shlian and wanted to design a star with 3D units. This star was originally designed to be folded from 8 units (which actually makes the star lie flat and is similar to Matt's units), but it can easily be folded from a different number of units to create a more or less complex star.
